Method 1: Scrubbing Out a Stain

Pour Vinegar Onto the Affected Area

Start by applying white distilled vinegar to the slime-stained portion of your garment. Make sure the area is completely soaked. To prevent needless mess, do this step in a sink.

Tip: Before using vinegar, spread an ice cube over the area to make it easier to remove caked-on slime. This makes it easier to scrape off the slime by rubbing an ice cube and solidifying it.

Scrub the Stain

Work the vinegar into the slime with a scrub brush. Apply hard pressure to enable the bristles to separate the sticky residue. The acidity of vinegar effectively dissolves the slime.

  • For more stubborn stains, let the vinegar sit for 3 to 5 minutes before cleaning.
  • Use a towel or toothbrush if you don't have a scrub brush.

Use Warm Water to Rinse Thoroughly

Rinse with warm water to remove the vinegar and any loosened slime. As you rinse, work out any slime residue with your fingertips. Repeat the vinegar cleaning procedure and rinse if any residue remains.

Use Dish Soap for Residual Stickiness

Apply a few drops of dish soap to the area to remove any remaining slime or vinegar smell. Rinse after evenly spreading the soap over the fabric by working it together.

Wash According to Care Instructions

After treating the stain, wash the garments according to the care label. Dry clean, hand wash, or machine wash as needed. You may wear the garment right away after towel-drying tiny places.

Method 2: Washing Slime Off in the Laundry

Scrape Off Excess Slime

To remove as much slime as possible, freeze it using your fingers, tweezers, or an ice cube. Avoid washing the slime-stained clothes directly in the washing machine. Doing so might spread the slime.

Use Liquid Laundry Detergent

After applying a tiny bit of detergent to the stain, rub it into the cloth. Gloves are advised if you have sensitive skin.

Allow Detergent to Sit

Give the detergent ten minutes or so to settle. This will soften the slime and facilitate the detergent's thorough penetration of the fibers.

Soak in Hot Water

To ensure the clothing is completely saturated, immerse it in a dishpan of hot water and swirl gently. Warmer water increases the detergent's cleaning effectiveness.

Soak for 30 Minutes

Give the clothing at least half an hour to soak. To guarantee uniform soaking, swirl the water occasionally. A longer soak could be beneficial for more stubborn stains.

Machine Wash the Clothing

After soaking, wash the clothing as directed on the care label. Be sure the majority of the slime has been eliminated before combining it with other clothes in the laundry.

Dry the Garment Properly

Check the label to determine whether the item must be air-dried or tumble-dried. To preserve fragile textiles, choose air-drying wherever possible.

The Bottom Line

Learning how to get slime out of clothes saves your garments. Even the most stubborn slime stains may be successfully removed by promptly adhering to these tried-and-tested DIY hacks.
